El Duende Flamenco Dance Co was established in 1990 by Susana and Antonio Carmona. The company of dancers, guitarists and singers has performed throughout Australia. Susana also ran a busy dance studio in Sydney.

Susana trained and danced with Antonio Vargas Flamenco Dance Theatre for several years, touring Australia’s major cities, with productions such as Carmen (with Victorian State Opera), Chronicles of a Death Foretold, Blood Wedding etc. She went on to study further in Spain with some of the true legends of Flamenco- Manolete, El Guito, Carmen Cortes.

In Australia Susana has choreographed several theatrical pieces for El Duende Co, including Kali, performed at the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, (funded by Carnivale), and Eran GItanos for Kaleidoscope. Susana also collaborated with Ruchi Sanghi Kathak Dance creating productions for Miss India Australia, Sydney Art Gallery, Nida Theatre etc.

Susana later danced as soloist with El Caballo Blanco and toured with the company for several years, dancing alongside the magnificent Spanish horses and featuring in many TV appearances in both Australia and New Zealand.

Now located in the Noosa Hinterland, El Duende continues to promote the beautiful artform of Flamenco music and dance.
